Bertha Palen
Mrs. Bertha Turner Palen, 89, of 3424 Makyes Road, South Onondaga, died yesterday at Van Duyn Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of the Marcellus area and moved to South Onondaga 30 years ago. Mrs. Palen was the widow of Jay Palen. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Clary, and a son, Donald E., both of Marcellus; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Welch and Mrs. Edith Loomis of South Onondaga; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Norris Funeral Home, Marcellus, the Rev. Robert Overmier officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today.
