Raymond was the husband of the late Margaret E. (Guthrie) George. Born in Mohegan, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Agnes (Savoie) George. Raymond was very well-known throughout the Burrillville community for his many involvements. He was a giving man and had a great deal of motivation to do what he could for his town. His many friends include not only the Burrillville community but many friends and respected colleagues from the State of Rhode Island. His employment history was varied. He began his career working as a Clerk in the Business Office at what is now the Eleanor Slater Hospital, Zambarano Unit. He was also employed by the Pascoag Horse Racing facility. He also owned and operated G & M Construction Home Improvement Company, he also owned Pascoag Realty and Insurance Company. He worked for the State of Rhode Island as the Assistant Director of Administration and he retired as the Chief Clerk of the District Courts. He loved politics and was Chairman of the Burrillville Democratic Town Committee for a number of years. The Burrillville Sewer Commission was begun by Raymond and the facility bears his name. Raymond was a partner in the firm that was responsible for the construction of Bradford Court in Pascoag, the firm also managed the property for several years. He was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Red Sox, Celtics and the N.E. Patriots. Over the years he received many awards and honors for his works. He was honored as a lifelong member and Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Pascoag Council and Bishop McVinney Assembly. Many receptions were held in his honor over the years. Mr. George is survived by his daughter, Carol L. Franklin, of Ocala, FL, his son, Scott J. George of Harrisville, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Norman George, sisters, Dorothy Mousseau and Florence Fidler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Raymond was a wonderful husband, loving father, businessman, entrepreneur, historian, philanthropist, philosopher, and friend to all. Everyone loved Raymond.
