Obituary: Clara, daughter of Peter and Sophronia Hippert was born in Auglaize county, Ohio. October 26, 1851; departed this life at her home in Mentone, March 29, 1912, age 60 years, 5 months and 3 days. The subject of this sketch came to Indiana in 1868, and was married to Daniel Tipton, her now bereft husband, September 26, 1869. In 1872, she united with the Yellow Creek Baptist church and transferred her membership to Mentone Baptist church May 15, 1897. Her faith in God never wavered and all through her protracted sickness, accompanied by intense suffering, she prayed and waited anxiously for His coming. She became a member of the Order of Rebekahs over thirty year ago and was greatly honored by all members of the order. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and a great portion of her life was spent in ministering to the sick. A good and useful life has gone out, one that will be greatly missed in the community, but we know that our loss is her eternal gain as last expression was "All is well, with Jesus". Those left to mourn are her husband, one sister and a host of relatives and friends who will ever cherish her memory. The funeral occurred at the Baptist church on Sunday, preached by Rev. B. H. Truman of the Baptist church at Warsaw.
