ANSON - Arthur "Speedy" Cerda, 35, died Tuesday from injuries received in an accident south of Abilene.

Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Oscar Del Rio officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Cerda was born in Ranger and attended school in Baird. He married Guadalupe Ramos in 1988 in Batesville, Ark., and moved to Anson in 1993. He worked as a truck driver and diesel mechanic for Vulcan Materials.

Survivors include his wife, of Anson; two daughters, Dolores Loredo and Chrystal Loredo, both of Anson; one adopted son, Jeremy Watts of Anson; his parents, Pedro and Concha Cerda of Baird; eight brothers, Frank Cerda of Pilot Point, Michael Cerda of Rockwood, Mich., and Pedro Cerda Jr., Joe Cerda, Carlos Cerda, Matthew Cerda, Manuel Cerda and Gabriel Cerda, all of Baird; five sisters, Estela Moreno of Anson, Lydia Hernandez of Fort Worth, Yolanda Torres of Abilene, and Concha Ramirez and Becky Carrion, both of Baird; and one grandchild.
