Catherine Wilson Fowler
Mrs. Fowler, 83, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital.
Born April 1, 1921 in Lenoir, NC, Mrs. Fowler was a daughter of the late Robert Ernest and Fredia Stine Wilson. She was employed for 38 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. where she was office manager.
Mrs. Fowler was an active member of Paw Creek American Legion Auxiliary for 52 years having served as President two years and Treasurer for many years. She served as President of the Mecklenburg County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the organization. On the state level, Mrs. Fowler served as chairman of several major committees including Financial Chairman for three years for the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of North Carolina.
An avid bridge player, Mrs. Fowler belonged to a bridge club in her community of friends. She also enjoyed being a charter member of the Coulwood Garden Club. Mrs. Fowler was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church and served faithfully in Sunday School, the Glenn Lackey Class, and the Jinnie Mozely/Catherine Walters circle as well as other committees in the church. She was also a member and enjoyed activities of the Over 55 Club. For 21 years, she volunteered at Charlotte Orthopaedic Hospital.
She is survived by her brother, Worth B. Wilson and his wife, Patricia, of Wallace, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. Her husband, James Lawson Fowler, and three brothers, John, Robert E. and Frank Wilson preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 25 at Christ United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
