HARRISBURG — Marshall Eugene (Gene) Blackwelder, 65, of 119 Parallel Drive, formerly of 427 Union Cemetery Road, Concord, NC, died Saturday at his home.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Scott Davis and Ed Hall officiating. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, NC.
He was born on October 8, [1934] in Mecklenburg County to the late Lewis F. Blackwelder and the late Elma Miller Blackwelder. He was a retired window maker for Allison-Erwin Co. He was a member of Pitts Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Windell Blackwelder who died July 4, 1999. He was also predeceased by a brother, Hoyte Blackwelder.
He is survived by his brothers, Edward Blackwelder, Concord, Carl Blackwelder both of Concord, Bill Blackwelder of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Lewis (L. J.) Blackwelder of Harrisburg, NC; sisters Mrs. Martha Bolick of Mt. Ulla, NC, Mrs. Mae Pope and Mrs. Elaine Miller both of Concord, NC.
The family will be at the home of a brother, Lewis (L.J.) Blackwelder, 119 Parallel Drive, Harrisburg, NC
