ROBERT F. KOEHLER - Glocester

ROBERT F. KOEHLER, 63, of Snake Hill Road, an independent insurance agent for more than 40 years, died Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.

He was the husband of Linda G. (Dowling) Koehler, and the late Mary M. (Fogarty) Koehler. Born in Providence, a son of the late J. Frank and Elizabeth (McConnell) Koehler, he had lived in North Providence before moving to Glocester in 1975.

Mr. Koehler was the president of the Richard E. Frank Co., North Providence. He was a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island, and the North Providence Independent Insurance Agents, and a member of the Certified Professional Insurance Agent Society.

He had been a special officer in the Glocester Police Department before retiring in 1982, and in the North Providence Police Department before retiring in 1975. He was chairman of the Glocester Safety Committee, a member of the Fruit Hill Volunteer Firemen's Association, and a past officer of the Harmony Fire District. Mr. Koehler was active in Boy Scout Troop 9, in Harmony, and Troop 44, Glocester. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Philip Church, Greenville.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Army Lt. Col. Patricia Matlock in Hawaii, and Elizabeth Kaye of Johnston; three sons, Robert T. and John Koehler, both of Glocester, and Army Sgt. Matthew Koehler of Fort Bragg, N.C.; two brothers, Kevin Koehler of Bonnet Shores and Frank Koehler in Florida; and five grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William R. Koehler. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
