Isaac L. Taylor served as a Private in Company E of the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War. He was killed on July 2, 1863, the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg.

But buried in this grave is possibly Private Isaac Taylor. He enlisted in the 1st Minnesota Regiment at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, at the age of 24. During the Battle of Savage's Station, Virginia, on June 29, 1862, he received a wound in the shoulder and was taken prisoner. He was shortly afterwards paroled.
Private Taylor was killed on the evening of July 2nd during the regiment's counterattack.
