Mrs. Anna Ruth Garmon Alexander, age 83, of Glasgow Rd. (Grider community) in Burkesville, KY passed away Saturday January 22, 2011 at The Cumberland County Hospital. She was born in the Scott's Bottom Community of Cumberland County, KY on Sunday December 18, 1927, the daughter of James Robert Garmon, Sr. and Alma Bernice Pennycuff Garmon. She was a class of 1947 graduate of Burkesville High School, a member of Order of the Eastern Star #380, a faithful member and pianist of The Burkesville First United Methodist Church, former employee of Burkesville Grocery Co., Pedigo Insurance Agency, Bank of Cumberland for over 25 years and Shearer Jewelry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Justin Alexander; sister, McIva Doebler; and niece, Cheryl Sewell Hamilton. She is survived by her sister, Golda Nell (and Gene B.) Sewell of Burkesville, her brother, James Robert, Jr. (and Verna Jean) Garmon of Burkesville, her nieces and nephews, Terry (and Vicki) Garmon, Vicky Brandt, Kathy (and Barry) Dyer, Sue (and Jim) Love, Charles (and Crystal) Garmon, Eric Doebler, Monica (and Anthony)Tracy, Cindy (and Peter) Weisskopf; also several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were conducted on Monday January 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Morris and Bro. Seth Denney officiating, Burial followed in the Marrowbone Cemetery. The family would prefer that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to The Burkesville First United Methodist Church Building Fund in her memory.
