Leonard was born in Hamtramck and came to a farm on Lee Hill Road at the age of 14. He then went to Saginaw to make his way. That endeavor led to his employment at United Plastics in Vassar until it was sold in 1968. He and his partners then built and operated Caro Plastics until his retirement. Upon his retirement, he moved to Arizona, and in 1973 he returned to Caro. He and Charlene (Bowles) were united in marriage in 1996. He enjoyed golfing and was a very accomplished carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene, and her children, Ann Diana of Canton, Laurie Rodriguez of Fairgrove, Michael (Cynthia) Fields of Cass City, and Bethany (Gregory) Lockwood of Caro; his children and their mother, Tom (Bonnie) Baranski of Colorado, John (Kim) Baranski in Japan, Kathy (Ken) Moore of Mesa, Arizona, Kristine Cook of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Nell Baranski; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
