In 1910 he and his brother Alfred are working together on a farm in Holden, Missouri. In 1911, he married Harrietta Elizabeth "Bettie" Crutsinger in Kingsville, Missouri. Thomas and Bettie had 2 children, Edith Jessie Hogan and Earl William Hogan.
In 1917 he worked for the Adams Produce Company as a chicken picker located in Holden, Missouri.
In 1920 the family moved to Kansas City. Sometime between 1920 and 1930 Bettie had Thomas committed to the State Hospital #2 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Today it is known as Glore Psychiatric Museum. It is unknown when he went in, and when he came out.
In 1946 Thomas moved to California. He worked in construction, and died in the Sacramento River. He slipped and fell into the river while he was fishing. He and his brother Dee were living together at the time.
