Served in the Confederate Army 1862-1865 (enlisted @ age 18 with his brother Joe)in the T.G.Anderson Regiment-Banavides in the State of Texas. He was a wagoneer, & fought in the last battle of the war @ the mouth of the Rio Grande river.
Attended medical school for 2 years. Was a prominent Mason, County Commissioner & Justice of the Peace.
