The Bland Courier, Bland, MO; July 29, 1943: JAMES BASHAM DIES - Funeral Conducted Wednesday from Liberty Church, Belle

Funeral services for James Basham, 60 years old Paydown farmer, were conducted Wednesday from the Liberty Church of Christ with O. A. Mallow officiating. He succumbed at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Backues, Paydown route out of Vienna. 7:30 o'clock, Tuesday morning, July 20, 1943.

He has been in failing health for three months suffering with cancer. He was born May 1, 1883 and was married to Miss Eliza Glover in 1905.

Surviving are the wife and six children: Mrs. Eunice Stockton of Belle, Mrs. Backues of Vienna, Mrs. Opal Harris of Belle, Fred Basham of Belle, and Orvil and Chester Basham of the Army. Three brothers, Bill Basham of Belle, Edward Basham of Springfield, and Ernest Basham of Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. Conter of St. Louis, also survive. Eight grandchildren are left to mourn his loss. One great grandchild also survives.

Burial was made at Liberty cemetery under direction of Sassmann Funeral Service.
