JOHN T. STEPP
August 28, 1872 ~ June 5, 1945

John Thomas Stepp was the son of William and Arminta Newman Stepp. He married (1)Rebecca Radford, she died from a fall (while she was pregnant) (2)Elmyra Mooney Cheek, (3)Dora Adeline Earnest.
He was found dead by a river, of an assumed heart attack.

JOHN T. STEPP IS FOUND NEAR EAGLETOWN

John T. Stepp, 72, of Eagletown was found dead last Wednesday by Homer Warren, with whom he resided, after he failed to return from a fishing trip Tuesday afternoon.

He was found slumped forward on a log with his head under water, and a coroner's jury returned a verdict of death by natural causes or by accident.

Stepp, a native of North Carolina, had resided in McCurtain county 30 years, moving from Arkansas. He was a retired farmer. He was a constant reader of the Bible and had read it through a number of times.

He is survived by one son, W. R. Stepp, Broken Bow, and one daughter, Mrs. L. T. Chanler of Haynesville, La., also 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagletown cemetery. Arrangements and interment were under direction of Wilson funeral home.
