Albert Butler Francis was born in Wyoming County, NY November 25th, 1837, died March 22, 1901, at 10 o'clock p. m., at Owatonna, aged 63 years, 3 months and 27 days. He lived in Wyoming County until 1856, when he came to Walworth County, WI, where he remained two years. From there he moved to Rock County where he lived ten years. In 1857 he came to Steele County, MN., and settled at Medford. September 27th, 1861 he enlisted in Co. "F" 3rd Minn. Reg. and served until Sept. 2nd, 1865. After the war he came back to Medford and lived there until three weeks and three days before his death. He was a member of the Geo. P. Sawyer GAR Post #132 and had been its commander. He was also a member of the K. of P. lodge in Medford. His health had been poor since the war. Over two years ago he had a very serious illness from which he never entirely recovered. On March 6th he had an operation performed after which he rallied and improved for a week after which he gradually failed. The funeral services took place at the Congregational church, Medford, last Monday, at 10 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. J. S. Gould of Owatonna. The remains were interred in the Union cemetery. The deceased was a good citizen, obliging neighbor and a man well thought of by all his neighbors. He has gone to his rest and reward sincerely mourned.

Albert's name is on the side of the marker for James H. Deremer, although not related it has been determined they were both from NY, enlisted, re-enlisted and served at the same time in the same MN unit for the duration of the Civil War. "Brothers"
