Charley Jacob Schmaljohn, son of Carl Jacob and Sarah Ella Schmaljohn was born November 23, 1910 near Vici and departed this life September 13, 1961 following an illness of several months. He was 50 years, 9 months, 20 days of age. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth and attended Pioneer School near where he lived. He spent his entire life in the Pioneer community. At an early age he was baptized and became a member of the LDS Church. He is survied by two half sisters, Mamie Powell of the home and Lillie Glenn of Fruitvale, Idaho; two half brothers, Obed Kendrich of Vici and W. H. Thompson of Colletville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Services were Sunday, September 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Shaw Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lemuel Dyke officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery with Shaw Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
