GLOUCESTER - David Leroy Cosper, 64, died Jan. 21, 2011 at his home.

David served in the U.S. Army from 1964 -1971 in Vietnam. He was currently with the Department of Defense at Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a boiler engineer. He was a lover of astronomy, setting his telescope up in fields and spending hours studying the stars and planets. He enjoyed fishing and watching movies. He loved his family and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vada Gilliland.

He is survived by daughters, Kim James and husband, Bryan, Rhonda Phillips and husband, Mike; father, Jim Cosper and his wife, Doris; grandchildren, Ashlee Driggers, Michael Driggers and wife, Elizabeth, Cody Phillips, Nicholas David James; brothers, James Cosper, Roger Gilliland; and special friends, Burline and John Turner.

Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Tom Cohick, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
