Jane S. Ransom, the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Horace Manley, one of the pioneers of Richfield Springs and the first to promote the efficacy of the springs at Richfield and a prominent physician of the day in which he lived, died, Friday of last week, in Providence, R. I., at the home of Mrs. C. W. Abbott, her daughter, her last moments being marked by that wonderful vitality and mentality which had been hers all her life. Mrs. Ransom was born at Richfield, N. Y., February 28, 1820, and was therefore in her ninety-first year. She was the widow of the late Commodore George M. Ransom, U. S. N., and for a number of years, especially during the sea duty of the commodore, their home was established in this village, where the officer came when relived from active duty and where he and his wife entertained many distinguished visitors."
