Mr. Umsted lived in Grand Prairie for 43 years. A horse lover, he spent his retirement years at the Myers Road Pasture.
Mr. Umsted is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Vera Ellason; daughter Lonnie Burton of Dallas ; daughter and son-in-law Anna and Lester Davis of Winnsboro; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren ; and three great-great-grandchildren . His enlarged family included three step-grandchildren , six step great-grandchildren , and sister Julia Self of Melissa.
Services took place Wednesday , July 2, at First Christian Church, with Rev. Allen Shriver officiating.
The family asks that memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 202
W. Tarrant Rd. in Grand Prairie.
