Richard W. Smith Jr., 66, of Hoopeston died at 11:03 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 30, 2011) at his home in Hoopeston.
He was born Sept. 2, 1944 in Hoopeston to Richard W. Sr.and Betty A. Harris Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Robert Hurt; three brothers, Dale, Gary and Danny; two sisters, Nina and Rose Marie; one son, Robert and one daughter, Alice.
He married Linda S. Wallace on Aug. 7, 1972, at Columbus, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Richard (Jodie) Smith of Rantoul, Cathy Smith of Hoopeston, Patricia (Maynard) Benison of Hoopeston and Tena (Carlos) Ramey of Hopkinsville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Louise Smith of Colorado; five sisters, Judy (Larry) Longfellow of Hoopeston, Barbara Hurt (Dennis) Everhart of Sheldon, Susie (Kenny) Everhart of Sheldon, Debra (Brian) Brough of Pekin, Indiana and Brenda Schlutter of Colorado and three brothers, Wade (Pam) Hurt of Sheldon, Tim (Lisa) Hurt of Hoopeston and Kevin Smith of Colorado.
