Mrs. Clara Bender Services Today
Services for Mrs. Clara Bender, 88, widow of Fred A. Bender, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Thoma Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Ivan Jourdan. Burial will be at Tocsin.
Her death occurred at her home, 407 West Miller St., at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. She had been hospitalized two weeks.
Born in Lancaster Twp. April 11, 1877, she had been a lifelong resident of Wells County. A daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Mills Shady, she was the last of her family of seven and was married to Mr. Bender Dec. 6, 1903. His death occurred in 1961.
Surviving are five daughters and two sons.
They are Mrs. Ray (Lela) McConey, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Bowman, Mrs. Edward (Mabel) Schwartz, Carl and Earl Bender, all of Bluffton; Mrs. Darrell (Marguerite) Eppele and Mrs. Justine Eppele, both of Fort Wayne.
There are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
