Paul G. Beachel, 86, formerly of rural Milton, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Facility where he had been residing recently.

Born August 14, 1922 in Kelly Twp., Union County, he was the son of the late Reed G. and Agnes (Gessner) Beachel.

He was married to the former Jeanette M. Long for nearly 65 years until her death January 8, 2007.

Paul and Jeanette resided in Hagerstown, MD early in their marriage where Paul was employed by Fairchild Aircraft. They returned to Montour County in the mid 1940's. A long-time farmer, Paul owned and operated Seven Springs Farm at RR2 Milton from 1944 until retiring in 1998. He was also a driver for many local Amish families for several years.

He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII.

Paul enjoyed motorcycles rides with his wife on his Harley-Davidson, traveling and looked forward to dining out, especially breakfasts with friends.

He was a member of Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, Muncy.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard L. "Pete" and Rachel Beachel and David W. and Linda Beachel, all of Fairview Road, Danville; five grandsons: Richard L., Jr., David W., Jr., Denis, Douglas, and Dallas Beachel; 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Sarah Beachel, Selinsgrove and Martha Kaler, Trevorton and a brother-in-law, Ellery Warner of Stockton, Calif.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were a son, Paul G. Beachel, Jr. who died in 1964; two brothers who died in childhood, Floyd and Sherman; and five sisters: Esther and Martha, who died in childhood, Beulah Edinger, Naomi Warner, and Pauline Joppie.

Friends are invited to call at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville from 9 to 11 AM Monday where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM by the Rev. Stephen R. Smith, his pastor.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Mazeppa Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, 994 East Penn Street, Muncy, PA 17756.
