Ferne Ailene Cooper, daughter of John William and Tracy Kimsey was born October 14, 1912 near Simpson, Kansas and died at her home in Glasco on March 9, 1946 at the age of 33 years, 4 months and 25 days.
Her childhood was spent in and around Simpson. She graduated from Simpson high school in 1930. She taught in a rural school and at the Girls Industrial School in Beloit. She did clerical work at the Mitchell county courthouse.
On July 16, 1937 she was united in marriage to Garrett A. Cooper at Red Cloud, Nebraska.
She became a member of the Methodist church in Simpson and later transferred her membership to the church in Glasco. She attended regularly as long as her health permitted and was an active member of the Plus Ultra class.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Garrett A. Cooper, her two children, Robert Gene and Shirley Joan, her step-daughter, Dora Lee Percival of Beverly and Dora Lee's two children, Gary Glen and Marjorie Catherine; her mother, Mrs. Tracy Kimsey of Simpson, her brothers and sisters, Mrs. Theresa Hills of Manhattan, Jesse Kimsey of St. Helens, Oregon; Walter Kimsey and Orville Kimsey of Simpson, Marion Kimsey of San Antonio, Texas; and Mrs. Thelma Wheeler of Longview, Washington. She also leaves sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her father preceded her in death , having passed away on March 21, 1942.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon March 11, at 2:30 at the methodist church in Glasco, conducted by the Rev. H.J. Feldmann of Delphos.
Pall bearers were Earl Plush, Fred Harper, George Kappel, Russ Cunningham, W.N. Pilcher. Flower bearers were Mrs. Frank McCollough and Mrs. Eli Pinney. Singers were Bernice Harper, Clarice Jordan, and Charles E. Kraus. Stine-Griffith mortuary was in charge and interment was in Glasco cemetery.
