MT. VERNON — Freda Pauline Williams, 86, of Bonnie, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Countryside Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

She was born April 5, 1924, the daughter of Raymond and Elsie (Whitlatch) Oathout. She married Marvin Williams on Feb. 19, 1946 at the Bonnie Methodist Church and they were lifelong residents of Bonnie.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Church of God in Bonnie, with the Rev. Jack Gatson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Freda is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Williams and wife Rita of Bonnie and Bradley Kent Williams and wife Barbara of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Traci (Jason) Batson of Maryville, Alison (Brandon) Storm of Fairview Heights, Kristen (Matt) Cherry of Nashville, Tenn., Scott (Shana) Williams of Mt. Vernon, KEnt (Jessica) Williams of Springfield, Mo., and Lacey (Neil) Sloan of Mt. Vernon; eight great-grandchildren and one due in March, Carson Williams, Camden and Ashlyn Storm, Sabrina Cherry, Kennedy Williams, Avery Sloan and twins Logan and Reid Batson; a sister, Mildred Book of Bonnie; three sisters-in-law, Gerry Williams of Bonnie, Roxie Williams of Trenton and Freida Schmidt of Woodlawn; one brother-in-law, Billy. G. Williams of Bonnie and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by half brother Virgil Oathout; five brothers-in-law, Fred and Glen Shurtz, Robert and Thurman Williams and Durward Brook; and two sisters-in-law, Melba Shurtz and Jacque Williams.

She was a longtime member of the Bonnie Church of God, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and was an officer of WCG. She was awarded the Mother of the Year award in 2008. Her family was her life; Freda loved her grandchildren and was proud of all their accomplishments.
