Joseph "Sato" Aragon, 63, a resident of Tome, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Tome, and a lifelong VFW member. Joseph took that last step to heaven after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Tome, N.M. to Saturnino and Juanita Aragon. In 1970 he married the love of his life, Vicki, after serving his country in the US Air Force in Vietnam. Joe was the first college graduate in his family receiving a Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of NM in 1973. Joseph was a dedicated husband, father, as well as a counselor, principal, and a dedicated foster parent to thousands of children and families in the Los Lunas and Isleta School Districts. He dearly loved hunting and fishing with his children and grand children, as well as traveling with his wife. Joseph was preceded in death by his father Saturnino Aragon. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Vicki; his daughters Amanda Gabaldon and her husband Brandon, Jennifer Chavez and her husband Joshua; his sons Anthony Aragon and his wife Bricena, and Eric Joseph Aragon; his grandchildren Jarren, Jacob, Jonah, and Lydia Gale Gabaldon, Damian and Emilee Chavez, Qwaden Aragon, and Harlee and Dylan Garner; his mother Juanita Aragon; his mother in law Oleta Warren; his siblings Rey, Paul, Rita, Kenneth, Eileen, Diane, and Steve; and his brother in law Gary Warren. A viewing will take place at Noblin Funeral Service Belen chapel on Wednesday February 2, 2011 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. An additional viewing will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church also on Wednesday at 4:30pm with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 3rd at 10:30am with Father Jose Hernandez officiating. A reception will follow in the Juan Diego Parish Hall. Interment with Military Honors will be held on Friday February 4th at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be Anthony Aragon, Eric Aragon, Rey Aragon, Brandon Gabaldon, Joshua Chavez, and Ramon Torres. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul, Steve, and Kenneth Aragon, and Gary Warren. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that you contribute to Qwaden's Heart Foundation in memory of Joseph Aragon, PO Box 823, Peralta, NM 87042.
