Elmo is survived by 5 sons, Jack Kays, Des Moines, Ia. Don Kays, Sedalia, Joe, Hugh and Bill Kays, all of Versailles; five daughters, Donna Kays of Nebraska, Betty Rose, Council Bluffs, Ia., Beverly Chastain, Lebanon, Becky Sizer, Centertown, and Cindy Kays, of Versailles. His parents, Hugh B. and stepmother Bertha Kays also survive of the home. Elmo has one sister Lucille Woolery, four brothers Hubert Kays, Belvidere, Ill., Harry Kays, Peculiar, Mo., Truman Kays, Stover, Mo., and Norman Kays, Independence, Mo.
At the time of his death Elmo has 10 grandchildren.
Elmo's mother Lela Bonine Kays presided him in death in 1940.
Mr. Kays was honored with his nephews serving as his pallbearers. Military rites were at gravesite.
