Mr. Arnold was born in Latakia, Syria, now Turkey. His birth name was: Safi' Ben Ali. While young, his parents were killed by Russians, & he came to the United States, settling in Mercer County, PA. Census papers show that he worked as a photographer, & later also as a farmer. On his marriage certificate on Oct. 14, 1903, his name is listed as Ben Ali. In 1907, it was listed as Safi' Ben Arnold, & later as Samuel Ben Arnold. He died in the Columbiana County Home 2 days after going there.
