Shiloh Elmer E. Menges, 82, a pioneer York County garageman. died Wednesday at 6:50 p.m. at his residence, 2150 Manor Road, here.
Mr. Menges was the original owner of the first garage in Shiloh, opened in 1921 and known then and now as Shiloh Garage. He retired from the business 16 years ago.
He and his wife, the former Minerva B. Harbold, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary June 1.
Mr. Menges was a member of Barren's Lutheran congregation, near Dillsburg, and the Sunday School there. He was a life member of York County Garageman's Association, and also of the West Manchester Farmers and Sportsmen's Association, Shiloh Fire Co. and York County Firemen's Association.
He was the son of the late Charles and Rosie Krout Menges. Surviving are a brother Allen Menges, East Berlin; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Bentz, and Mrs. Betty Dutery, both of Dillsburg and a number of neices and nephews.
His pastor, Rev. Howard W. Smith, will be assisted by Rev. Arthur T. Kaup, pastor of Barrens United Church of Christ congregation, at a funeral service Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Barrens Church. Burial will take place in the adjoining cemetery. The Leroy R. Leber Funeral Home, 2290 School St. has charge of the arrangements.
