A dedication was held by the Piety Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from Birmingham Michigan, and the Chief Justice Cushing Chapter of the DAR from Scituate Massachusetts on 5 May 2007, to place a Commemorative Marker at Union Cemetery in Scituate, in honor of Revolutionary war soldier Experience Hammond. The grave and stone of Experience Hammond had been destroyed many years ago. A member of the Michigan DAR, a direct descendant of Experience Hammond, was a sponsor through her chapter to erect a new stone and place a DAR Commemorative Marker.

Parents of Experience are Joseph Hammond and wife Thankful Damon all from Scituate, They were married 11 November 1736 in the First Parish Church of Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

Experience was first married to Letitia (Lettice) Wilder 18 June 1780 in Hingham, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. They had 9 children of this marriage as follows: Polly, William, Thomas, Experience Jr., John, Sarah, Frederick, Olive, and Joseph. Experience Jr. and John were twins. As a widower Corp. Hammond married Elsie Coleman in 1820. No children of this marriage. Have found no record of where his first wife Letitia, who died in Scituate Massachusetts before 1820, is buried. She was born in Hingham Massachusetts.

Experience is a direct descendant of Francis Cooke and Richard Warren of the Mayflower. Lineage proven by a direct descendant for the Society of Mayflower Descendants on 6 August 2009.
