James Albert "Jimmy" Baker, 63, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 in Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin (Laurens Co). Mr. Baker was a native of Appling County and was born Oct. 10, 1947. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church. Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Grady Baker, Sr., a sister, Ann Baker Curry; a brother-in-law, Eddie Branch and nephews, Rick Baker and Steve Branch.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Amy McCoy Brewer of Manchester, TN; his mother, Hulda Summerall Baker of Baxley; two sisters and brother-in-law, Marsha Branch and Eleanor and Reno Carter, all of Baxley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Grady "Buzzy" and Barbara Baker, William A. "Bill" and Vickie Baker, all of Baxley; three step-grandchildren: Jesse Blanton, Jacob Blanton and Katie Brewer.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Daniels and Mike Redwine officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jody Carter, Glynn Carter, Buddy Branch, Matt Baker, Brian Baker, Glynn Stone, Deen Craven, George Lightsey and Ronnie Quinn.

Musical selections were rendered by Chelsei Stone Norris, Floyd Hunter and Ronald Carter.

Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
