John G. Kvitek, 82, Maribel, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Wayside Parkview Estates, surrounded by his loving family.




He was born on the family farm in Maribel on Aug. 11, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kubsch) Kvitek.

John married Marleen Muench on June 11, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1982.

He owned and operated the Kvitek family farm in Maribel for over 45 years.

He was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Denmark. He was an avid reader, loved long drives with his wife and his family, and enjoyed playing Sudoku. He had a passion for antique farm machinery as well as a great interest in researching his ancestry.

John is survived by four children, Allen (Jill) Kvitek, Roger (Lynn) Kvitek, Cindy (Greg) Winiecki, all of Maribel; Karen Kvitek, Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren, Steven and Ashley Kvitek, Ann, Chris and Amanda Kvitek (fiance Adam Miller), David (Brianna) Winiecki and Lori Winiecki; two sisters-in-law, Doris Cherney and Germaine Kvitek; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marleen; sisters and brothers, Agnes Krajnek, Alice Denor Shedivy, Clarence Kvitek, Joseph Kvitek; brothers-in-law, Lester Cherney, Edward Krajnek, Joseph Denor and Ervin Shedivy.

Friends may call at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Rd. R, Denmark, on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 6395 County Rd. NN, Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Ron Colombo officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
