In 1880 he was living with his parents and two older sisters in Springdale, PA. His father worked as a brakeman for a railroad.

In 1900 he was living with his parents, two older sisters, and a niece in Springdale. His father worked as a Baggage Master. His Aunt Sarah Remaley, widow of his mother's older brother James, and four older cousins were living next door to them, and his cousin Charles, Sarah's oldest child, and his growing family was living on the other side of Sarah. Marsh's occupation was shown as Operator, but where and of what were not given.

His mother died in 1909, and in 1910 all the rest of them--plus Mary's husband--were living in Melrose, FL. Marsh was working as a bookkeeper in a store. His sister Sarah got re-married not long after that and stayed in Melrose, and is buried there.

Also not long after 1910 the rest of the family moved back to the Pittsburgh, PA area. His father and sister Mary and her husband were living in Wilkinsburg in 1920. Marsh married Jessie Thomas in 1911 or early 1912, and in 1920 they and their son James and daughter Mildred were living at 245 Taylor Ave. Apt. 2 in New Kensington. (Their daughter was missed in the census. She lived with Marsh's sister Mary and her husband at times, but was not listed with them either.) Marsh worked as a clerk at the aluminum works.

In 1930 the four of them plus his sister Mary lived in an apartment they were renting for $55 a month in the home of Claremont Sibley at 264 Ridge Ave. in New Kensington. He worked as an Assistant Credit Manager at the aluminum company.

In 1940 he, Jessie, their daughter, and a housekeeper, 53-year-old Winifred Heilman, lived in a house they were renting for $45 a month at 1229 Taylor Ave. in New Kensington. He worked in the Credit Department of an aluminum manufacturer, and had an income in 1939 of $3120. Their daughter Mildred did clerical work at the same place and made $1000 in 1939.

He died in the Sheridan Rest Home in Mars, PA, where he had lived for the last 18 months of his life after having a cerebral hemorrhage about six months before being placed there. His usual place of residence at that time was 1048 Kenneth Avenue in New Kensington.
