William James Cannard died while skiing at Mount Hood Meadows. William, or "Bill" as he was more affectionately known, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Ralph James and Maria (da Concei‡ao) Cannard. Coming from humble beginnings, he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University in 1998. He worked as an engineer for Con-Met before decid-ing to find a business of his own. In 2002 he took something small and broken, Ran-Tech, and made it the successful business it is today-Ran-Tech Engineering & Aerospace, Inc. He loved life and lived it to the fullest every day. He was a great friend and advisor and was always there when you needed him. He had a listening ear, a big heart and a strong mind. Bill was the best husband a wife could want, and a loving father, brother, uncle and son. He inspired everyone with his raw courage and steadfast determination. He lit up the room with his infectious laughter and had this twinkle in his eye that told you he knew something you didn't. If you had the opportunity to be touched by his life, you were better for it. His passing will leave a hole in the lives of his family and friends, but he will light our hearts forever. Bill married Susan Holt Aug. 1, 1997, at The Academy Chapel in Vancouver, and to their union they were blessed with two children, Courtney and Brandon. The family made their home in Beaver Lake. Bill is survived by his wife, Susan Cannard; children, Courtney and Brandon; mother, Maria Cannard; sister, Colleen Cannard; nieces and nephews; and the Plank family. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph J. Cannard. His untimely death leaves much heartache to his family and friends. There will be time to celebrate his life and mourn his passing at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in Abundant Life Church, 17241 S.E. Hemrick Road, Damascus. Memorials may be made in Bill's name to Helmets on the Hood at any MBank branch. Please visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
