Danny Humphries of Farmerville, LA known to most of us simply as "Gramps" has gone to join our Heavenly Father on January 28, 2011. He was admitted to the hospital after an emergency room visit for severe abdominal pain on December 29, 2010 where he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Having been born December 14, 1949, he had just celebrated turning 61.

Born in San Saba, TX & growing up in Goldthwaite, TX, he graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1968. He lived in Germany while in the US Army, then moving to Texas, Washington, & Maryland, before settling in the Sardis community of Farmerville, LA. He enjoyed traveling & took many memorable vacations with loved ones over the years.

Danny was employed by Con Agra Foods, then to become Pilgrim's Pride in El Dorado, Arkansas for 18 years in first line processing maintenance before it closed. Before that, he had helped build the Pecanland Mall in Monroe , LA. He was also a member of a great Bible study group in Ruston, LA where he had many friends. Being an avid football fan, he was also part of a tailgating group in Farmerville , LA. Both groups were like extended family to him.

He is survived by Summer Lemoine (daughter) & husband Robert of Marion, LA, Sterling Story (son) of Farmerville, LA, Jamie Dendy (step-daughter) & Tommy Shell of Ruston, LA, Patricia Stover (step-daughter) & husband John of Houston, TX, Sasha Story (granddaughter) of Marshall, TX, Karen Story (step-daughter) of Dallas, TX, Skip Cannon (step-son) & Shannon Carvey of Minden, LA, Donnie Humphries (brother) & wife Linda of Goldthwaite, TX, Dean Humphries (brother) & wife Cindy of Goldthwaite, TX, Kaycee Key (sister) & husband Allan of Denton, TX, Scott Humphries (brother) & wife Jensey of Goldthwaite, TX, Sorita Arons (sister) of Tyler, TX, & Linda Humphries Varley (step-mother) of Goldthwaite, TX. He is also survived by other grandchildren Danny Dendy, Caleb Dendy, Joby Dendy, Chad Hunter, Nikki Albritton, Jeanie Davis, Kyle Cannon, & Crystal Cannon & great grandchildren Alex Lemoine, Dagan Dendy, Spencer Dendy, Makinsey Story, Paul Lemoine, Kaylee Hunter , Jordan Albritton, & Dalton Albritton. He is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews & other Great Grandchildren.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Humphries, his mother, Geraldine Armstrong, his father, Don Humphries, & a brother, David Humphries, his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Karnes & Mr. and Mrs. Ben Humphries, & his granddaughter, Precious "Petey" Story.

Services were at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.

He was laid to rest in Weaver Cemetery located outside of Terrell, TX following a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA.
