Mr. Anderson was born and reared in Keller. After receiving degrees from Baylor University and the University of Texas at Austin, he built a distinguished career with the federal government. He then enjoyed a professorship in accoustical oceanography with Texas A&M in College Station. Upon retirement, he and his wife returned to Keller where he became heavily involved in preserving the area's history, a place where he had roots back six generations. He spent many hours gathering oral histories from longtime Keller residents as well as compiling historical documents and photographs, many of which are now available on the Keller Library web site. He was appointed to the Tarrant County Historical Commision in 2000 and had been serving as chairman since this past January.

Armstrong Anderson of Keller; daughter, Michelle Anderson Shepherd and husband, Jackson of College Station; son, David Anderson of Kaneohe, Hawaii and fiancee, Melanie Peevey; brother, C.W. "Andy" Anderson and wife, Kathy of Cross Plains; sister, Dawn Simpson and husband Fred, of McPherson, Kan.; grandsons, Danny and Chris Perrette and Scott, Joseph, Nicholas, Lee and Jake Shepherd; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
