TWO VETERANS TAKEN BY DEATH
John W. Foor and Harry H. Hummel Dead at O. S. S. Home
O. S. and S. HOME, April 25 - (Special) - The first deaths among the residents of the Soldiers' Home for the month of April have occurred. They are: John W. Foor, Civil War veteran, and Harry H. Hummel, formerly of Bellevue.
Hummel died today at the Home Hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1878, at Blissfield, Mich. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 15, 1903, at Ft. Wayne, Ind. and was discharged Dec. 14, 1907, at Norfolk, Va. He had been a resident of Ohio for 30 years and was admitted to the Home from Bellevue on Sept. 26. Surviving him are his widow and three children of Bellevue.
Foor, 89 years old, died at the Home Thursday. He was born in Fairfield Co. on May 4, 1841, and enlisted in Co. D. 95th O. V. I., at Winchester, O., on Aug. 4, 1862. He was honorably discharged at Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 14, 1865, after a service of 36 months. Foor came to the Home on March 16, 1907.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed for either of the two veterans.
-- Furloughs were issued today to: Albert Hummel, Co. C, 41st O. V. I., 10 days to Mark Center, O.; Arthur S. Crone, Co. D. 2nd Ohio Inf., 90 days to Van Wert; Harry E. Bell, Co. B. 160 Ind. V. I., five days to Milan;
-- The picture show for Saturday evening at 7 o'clock will be Doleres Del Rio in "Romona."
-- George Stephens, Co. F. 12 U. S. C., was admitted today.
-- Robert W Tubbs, Co. B. 165 U. S. I. and John McCloskey U. S. Navy, were readmitted Friday.
-- Edward F. Ferrell, Co. D. 16 U. S. E.; Benjamin List, Co. F. 135 U. S. F. A. and Thomas Brennen, Co. F. 19 Ind. V. I., were discharged Friday.
-- Adjutant's morning report: 410 present for duty; 70 extra duty; 97 sick; 122 absent with leave; 9 absent without leave; 703 members
