Ella was born rural farm in Minden area, Kearney Co, NE, about 1896-1897. Ella's parents Thomas Dennis Nielsen & Else Marie (Jensen) Nielsen came from Denmark to USA first in NY then NE. The family migrated from Kearney Co, NE to a farm near Turtle Creek area of Valley or Garfield Co, NE. In 1915, Ella married Anders Kristian "Chris" Rasmussen at her parents home. Together they had 5 children; 2 sons & 3 daughters, near/in Valley Co, NE. When her spouse "Chris" died, Ella worked last at John's Bakery & resided in Ord until migrating to CA where her adult children had moved to earlier.
"Grandmother" was beloved by all, very caring, always smiling & sweet, soft spoken person who loved her children and their familys'. She always seemed to have a project of fine crocheting, or embroidery, or knitting, or quilting, wonderful cook, and still she had time to play games with the kids ,,somehow Ella always managed to win too! She walked or was driven by others where she would go as she never drove herself. Her famous saying when family said goodbyes when visiting was "See you in the funny papers". Now resting in peace near her spouse & her parents at the Ord City Cemetery.
