Bob passed away with his family surrounding him. Born in Portland to Forrest L. Ross and Stella I. Moner, Bob loved his family and his country very much. Bob was a truck driver when he met Mary Green. She became his wife in 1937. Shortly after his marriage, he joined the U.S. Army to serve his country in World War II. He was in the Army for three years and then served in the National Guard as a master sergeant for 18 years. Bob met the second love of his life, Gladys Kanaval, and they married in 1972.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Green Ross; second wife, Gladys Kanaval Ross; parents, Forrest Ross and Stella Moner; brother, George; and sister, Dorothy. Bob is survived by his son, Denny Ross of Aurora; daughters, Judith Welch and Barbara Lane of Portland; stepchildren, Loren Ragen of Scappoose and Lillian Carner of Glen Eden Beach; grandchildren, Virginia Welch, Robin Ross, Candis Lane, Christine Jupp, Joel Ross, Amber Lane, Michael Welch, Vincent Lane, Marc Welch, John Ross and Eric Lane; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 14500 S.E. Powell Blvd., Portland, OR 97236. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in Willamette National Cemetery. Please send flowers to St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Robert's name. Arrangements are in the care of Farnstrom-Gable Funeral Chapel.
