Chester O. Lewis, 80, passed away January 11, 2000, born in St. Louis County, MO, March 9, 1919. Lived in Alton, IL where he volunteered for the U.S. Army in September, 1940. Stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC and Camp Gruber, OK. Served in North Africa and Italy, getting his discharge in 1945. Retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1978 after 22 years. Member of UAW 1093 and VFW in Turley, OK. Survived by: wife of 56 years, Ann M. "Reta" Lewis; children, Chesta Ann Nix, Philip Lewis and Kay Conn, all of Tulsa; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: father, George W. Lewis; mother, Mary Ann Barnhouse Lewis; 3 sisters; 9 brothers; and 1 grandson. Funeral 1 p.m., Friday, January 14, First Baptist Church, 1407 E. 71st St. No., Turley, OK. Graveside service 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Claremore, OK.
