Mrs. Henry McCleary, of McCleary, a resident of Grays Harbor county for 26 years and prominent in state and national organizations of the Daughters of the American Revolution, died suddenly this morning about 4 o'clock at her home from what is believed to have been heart trouble. Funeral arrangements will not be made until the arrival Thursday of Mr. McCleary who left Los Angeles last night for his home.
Mrs. McCleary was born in Winterset, Ohio, January 5, 1861. She was married October 29, 1885, and with her husband and small son, Charles McCleary, now of Olympia, came to Tacoma in 1890. She has lived intermittently in Grays Harbor county for 26 years. Besides her husband and son, Charles, she is survived by a second son, Fran, of McCleary, and one grandson, Henry Gose McCleary, of Olympia. Three brother, Frank Johnson, Dr. Ross Johnson and Elda Johnson, all of Cambridge, Ohio, and three sisters, Mrs. Cora Law, of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Anna Herrington, of Chicago, and Mrs. O. Wyrick, of Elma, Wash., also survive her.
Mrs. McCleary served as state regent of D.A.R from 1914 to 1915 and recently retired as vice-present general of the national organization to which office she was elected in 1920. She was a member of the national old trails committee of the D.A.R. During the last presidential election, Mrs. McCleary served as county present of the Women's Republican club. She was a member of the Congregational church of Tacoma. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of the Mills Undertaking company of Olympia.

Mrs. McCleary was a pioneer resident of this state and had been prominent in Grays Harbor County for many years.
Mrs. McCleary was a member and former regent of Mary Ball Chapter of the D.A.R. and was one of the best known and most efficient D.A.R. workers in this state, local members declared this morning. Her activities in the national organization, which extended over a period of many years, first attained recognition when she was made national chairman of the Old Trails Road Committee. Her outstanding work in this position led to her election as vice president-general of the national D.A.R., a position which she held for three years. Her term expired this year. Mrs. McCleary also was state regent in 1915 and 1915.
Born in Ohio sixty-three years ago, Mrs. McCleary had made her home in Washington for the last thirty-four years, the majority of that time being spent in McCleary, where she had an active part in the development of the town. She is survived by her husband, Henry McCleary of the Henry McCleary Timber Company, and by two sons, Charles and Frank McCleary.
