OBITUARY - Fulton Daily Sun - Sept. 11, 1931- JOHN L WISE , 75 years old, a well known Callaway Co farmer, died Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at his home near Wise Brothers oil station, 6 miles west of Kingdom City. He had been in ill health for about 6 months and was confined to his bed for almost a month. Funeral services were held at the Prairie Chapel Methodist Church, Near Earl. Mrs Wise was born May 2 , 1856 on a farm near where he died. With the exception of 8 years in Oklahoma, he spent his entire life in this county. His wife, formerly Miss Kate Layson, died August 14 , this year. Three children survive: Mrs Grace Bass of Elk City, Oklahoma; and Owen and Lowell at home. One brother, Mr James T Wise, of this county also is living. Another brother, Dick Wise of Elk City died two year ago and a sister, Mrs Mattie Stewart died a few years ago in New Mexico.
