Precious Angel, daughter of Judy Diaz and Richard Flaherty. Loaned to us for such a short time. But she filled every moment with sunshine, happiness, joy and love. An amazing person in such a young body.

She was beautiful and sweet, caring of others beyond her years. She gave more love and joy in a short time than most do in a lifetime

She was so smart and taught me so much. Her curiosity and innate intelligence kept me on my toes. She gave so freely of herself, her sweetness, her zest for life, her caring heart and loving ways--leaving those of us she touched trying to be more like her.

She was and is my precious Angel. How much she would have adored her Little Brother David....now so many years past what she was given. I believe she is his special angel who sits on his shoulder to keep watch over him.

Laurie, like me, loved Christmas, and despite her young age she already enjoyed the joy of giving as much as receiving. On her fourth Christmas she talked to my best friend about going shopping to buy her mommy a present. She smuggled her piggy bank out without my knowing for a shopping outing with Rose. I was told she had definite ideas about what was the right present for her mom! :-) After she chose those perfect gifts, she went to Rose's to wrap them. She was so excited when she came home with her presents for mom and put them under the tree! About a week later, a few days before the big night, Laurie looked at the tree and commented...."There are so many presents for me under the tree, but just my presents for you". I assured her that I had all the presents I needed under the tree. The next day she came into my room when she woke up and told me that she had to do something in her room and I wasn't to come in till she was finished. I heard lots of drawers being opened and the closet getting a good look through.....she came out once to ask if I could find her two shoe boxes, which I dutifully rounded up for her....still no clue to what she was up to…… A couple of hours later she emerged from her room and placed two cleverly decorated shoe boxes under the tree. The two name tags adorned with a four year olds rendition of Santa and Frosty the Snowman decried that these packages were for Mom from Laurie and Santa.

Christmas morning when she awoke and went to see what Santa had left....when she saw all the presents and toys she could hardly contain herself the with anticipation of discovering what treasures awaited....yet she went to the tree and picked up the gifts she had given me and brought them to me......she wanted me to open mine first. I am not sure which of us enjoyed my presents more…me or Laurie……First I opened the fancy wrapped package of goodies she had purchased with Rose, she was so proud she could afford to buy me such treasures. (Rose of course put the money back in her piggy bank but she didn't know that) But I have never been so touched by a gift as I was when I opened her adorable childishly wrapped and decorated boxes to find inside an assortment of her most prized possessions...not old discarded items, but her favorites. Only four and yet she was so generous and caring and loved to see and make others happy.

Amazingly enough God sent that part of Laurie back in her brother.
