Actor. He was a supporting actor who had over 40 radio, television and movie appearances into his short career. His balding appearance was that of a much older man, which got him parts as doctors, professors, sheriffs and bartenders. From 1955 through 1960, he appeared on several TV shows, among them 'Highway Patrol', 'Tales of Wells Fargo', 'The Adventures of Jim Bowie', 'Mike Hammer', 'Peter Gunn', 'Wanted: Dead or Alive', 'Perry Mason', 'Gunsmoke', '77 Sunset Strip', 'Maverick' and 'Hawaiian Eye'. He was also the star of the short-lived radio program, 'Luke Slaughter of Tombstone', which aired 16 episodes in 1958. Among films he appeared in were 'The Invasion of the Saucer Men' (1957), 'The Rawhide Trail' (1958) and 'They Came to Cordura' (1959). Buffington was appearing regularly in the Audie Murphy TV western series 'Whispering Smith' when he killed himself at the age of 28.
