Arletta M. Jurena, 84, of Endwell, passed away surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson Disease at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Sunday, February 6, 2011. She was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Larry Summers; parents, LoRaine and Beatrice LaTourette; brother, Bruce LaTourette; and sisters, Eloise Budine and Helen Seely.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Stephen; four sons and two daughters-in-law: Tom and Tammye Jurena, Sand Springs, OK, Kevin Jurena and his longtime companion Lisa Fuller, Endicott, Jim Jurena, Annapolis, MD, and Brian Jurena and Marion Bishop, Logan, UT; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Alan, Patrick and Eleanor; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Endicott, a RN graduate of Binghamton General Nursing School, a retired SUNY Binghamton nurse, retiring after 25 years of service and was a member of the State Employees Union. She was active in Greenman's Ceramic Club and the First Ward Senior Center. Arletta enjoyed many things in life including camping, snowmobiling, taking cruises, traveling to visit family and friends, gardening, pinochle, and was a longtime supporter of Special Olympics.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
