He married Sarah Elizabeth " Sallie " Hardy on the 5th of February 1902 in Coosa County. They lived in Sylacauga in Talladega County where Benjamin worked his way up to foreman on the railroad. The couple would raise seven children.
Around 1925, Benjamin returned to farming on a family farm in rural Talladega County.
