Bernice Wick, 89, of 631 Miller Ct. Kiel, died Thursday morning, February 9, 2006 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was the former Bernice Streiber, born November 21, 1916, in the town of Rhine, daughter of the late Walter and Hattie Manz Streiber. Bernice attended Harrison Grade School and Kiel High School. On June 2, 1940, she married Gerald Wick at Holy Rosary Parsonage in New Holstein. The couple raised mink for many years. She worked at Sargento Cheese in Elkhart Lake for 15 years until retirement. After retirement she helped pelt mink at Silver Moon Mink Ranch in New Holstein. Bernice was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, the Women's Guild & the Marsh Maid Homemakers.
She enjoyed bowling with the seniors in New Holstein, golfing, gardening, crafts, traveling, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Gerald, of Kiel, two daughters, Mary Ellen (Darwin) Matthies, Kiel, Sharon (Richard) Holzmann, Fond du Lac, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bryant and Gloria Wick, Howards Grove. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harley Streiber Sr. and one sister, LaVern Libke.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's UCC, Kiel, with the Rev. Catherine Carlson officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel Cemetery.
