He was born in Blount County on Dec. 9, 1934 to Sherman and Martha Stone Banister. He was a cattle and poultry farmer, a member of the Alabama Farmers Federation and a 1953 graduate of J. B. Pennington High Schol.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Wilmalene Hambey Banister of Arab; son, Scott Banister of Arab; 2 daughters, Judy (Jimmy) Miller, Sharon Ivey, both of Arab; brother, Carter Banister of Arab; 3 grandchildren, Dusty Miller, Whitney Ivey and Caleigh Miller, all of Arab.
Pallbearers will be Kris Banister, Patrick Banister, Noah Banister, Barry Banister, Jimmy Willingham and Dusty Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of New Canaan Baptist Church.
