Ruth's life began in a Christian home one of seven girls with one brother. She accepted her Lord's calling at about eleven years of age and as a young woman would fill in for her daddy at the pulpit. She also loved music and shared her love and talent for piano and vocal through her church work and as a music teacher. Her Christian background brought her to Craig County when her family was called to Pastor the local Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). There she met her future husband. They began their life together at the Caldwell family home place of "Pinnacle," where she raised her children, shared her home with family and friends with food and Christian love. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2004, at Gravel Hill Christian Church with Rev. Matthew Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Caldwell Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday at the homeplace "Pinnacle" from 1 to 8 p.m. The family wishes to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice of Roanoke for their Christ centered love and care of Ruth and her family. A special memorial for Ruth would be that all lives she touched could follow her example of unconditional Christian love for all. Arrangements by Paitsel Funeral Home, New Castle.
