COLUMBIA — Funeral services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Grayson Baptist Church for Herman L. "Honey Babe" Butler, 43, of Dallas, Tex., formerly of Caldwell Parish.

Burial was to be in Welcome Home Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home here.

Mr. Butler, a native of Caldwell Parish, died in a plane crash over the weekend near Roanoke, Va., which also took the life of World War II hero Audie Murphy. The plane wreckage was found Monday on a mountaintop.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Butler was a pilot and business associate of Murphy. He was a Shriner and member of First Baptist Church at Albion, Ill.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Colleen Butler; two sons, Danny L. Butler and Lance Butler, all of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Worth of Memphis, Tenn., Misses Debbie Butler and Robin Butler, both of Dallas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Butler of Albion; a brother, Marcus B. Butler of Grayson; two sisters, Mrs. Velda Morrmow [sic Morrow] of Mattoon, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Messman of Browns, Ill.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
