"Steven G. Haynes, age 53, of rural Batavia, entered into new life on May 30, 2007, while trucking in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on Jan. 28, 1954 in Fairfield to Donald and Mary Kimmel Haynes. He married Connie Hendrix on Oct. 5, 2002 in Bowling Green, Mo. He was raised and educated in Bowling Green, graduating from Bowling Green High School in 1972. He was a member of the Bowling Green and Troy Police Dept. for 17 years and recently employed by Thompson Trucking of Batavia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a former member of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife; his children, Mandy and Angela Haynes of Bowling Green, Shelby and Bailey Haynes of Batavia, Ashley and Elizabeth (Boo) Haynes of Batavia; and a son, Lucas Haynes of Batavia; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning 11 o'clock at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon with Pastor David Albert officiating. Interment will be in Sioc Cemetery near Eldon with military rites by O.B. Nelson American Legion #3 and Walter B. Schafer Veterans of Foreign Wars #775 of Ottumwa."
